Fax KIT vs. fax MACHINE

Perhaps you have a fax machine already and can't imagine using the copier as a fax. Sometimes having a fax machine separate is the better way to go, especially if your office is very busy. If you have an extremely high volume of copying and faxing going on at once, you may want to take a look at the exceptional line of SHARP fax machines we provide.

If, however, you would like to combine the efforts of the copier and fax, or are still not sure what you need, look at the following benefits that the fax kit would add to your copier.

The fax kit on the copier works much the same way as the typical fax machine, except that you are equipped with some amazing extras that you won't get with a stand-alone fax. For example, most fax machines still can't send and receive 2-sided documents. Of course, our SHARP fax machines can send 2-sided, but they cannot yet receive (print) 2-sided.

Additional features include:
  • 2-in-1 transmission (reduces two sheets to one page)
  • Book TX (send directly from a book)
  • More capacity for rapid dial locations than a standard fax machine
  • Frame erase (erases a set number of millimeters around the edge - very useful for erasing the header of the previous sender)

In addition to these fax features, many of our models actually have the ability to send a fax via your PC and/or the internet with PC Fax and Internet Fax.

PC Fax

With PC faxing you can save an enormous amount of time and paper supplies by faxing directly from your PC. Using this feature, you will not have to print out your document first, then walk down the hall to the fax machine and then toss the printed document when you're finished. You can even keep a personal list of phone numbers in a phonebook within the fax portion of the driver, making it simpler to recall frequently used numbers.

Internet Fax

As opposed to a normal fax, which transmits through telephone lines, Internet fax sends and receives fax images through the Internet. Image data scanned at an internet fax terminal is attached to an email, then sent to the recipient's Internet fax terminal. The file attached to the received email is printed by the Internet fax terminal on the receiving end. In addition, since email is used, the fax can be sent to an individual email address, not just an internet fax terminal. All you need is a network connection with an SMTP server and POP3. Faxes can also be received by emailing the copier with text or an attachment that is text or TIFF. Scan to email is similar, without the receiving capability.
